Filling a Royale Tournament

A lot of people say they struggle to get in to Royale tournaments because they are always full. If you haven’t hosted one yourself you probably haven’t seen how quickly people join. In this week’s tournament I captured what happens the moment you open a tournament to the public….

Biggest Game Changing Update Ever

Fabulous news from Supercell, the next update is going to focus on making the game a more full on experience; one in which you can attack much more often with whatever type of army you want. And it’s a simple change; a massive reduction in training time for troops and spells and hero regeneration time.

No longer will you need to wait 2-3 hours for a war army, and that also means that you can potentially practise war army attacks more frequently. For those of us with heroes over level 20 the change couldn’t have come soon enough. 1.5 hours to regenerate my heroes has been ridiculous and you need to gem boost to actually farm. Getting rid of this game tax can only be a good thing and will make the higher level game accessible to many more people; in particular those who aren’t yet old enough to have some disposable salary to occasionally buy gems. This was a huge concern of mine because our clan has a great bunch of attackers at senior school level and they would have really struggled to play full on through TH10 and TH11.

Reading between the lines I think there are going to be big war changes coming; being able to spin up war armies more quickly would allow for tournament play and shorter and more frequent wars. If I’m correct this is going to be great news for skilled war players.

Personally this is brilliant news, within a few weeks I will have max AQ and BK so will finally start my serious push to Legends league, and this will enable me to train decent armies in sensible amounts of time. I can’t wait.

Valkyrie Nerf ?

Galadon articulates it well that he expects a max Valkyrie nerf is on the way and also states that this would be deeply unfair given that we have had to commit so many resources to get them. I spent my looted 110k dark elixir on them and they will be with me in three days; it would be a real shame if they were nerfed before I get to use them in our weekend war. Super Valkyries

Supercell stated that they wanted more Valkyries used in the game and their update seems to have proved the point; so much so that they reduced the hit points of level 2-4 in today’s minor update. Here’s how to use them to take down a TH11 courtesy of spencer23$. Mine won’t be upgraded for another couple of weeks but I see a GoWiWiVa strategy is potentially looking viable too.

Update Balance Changes

Supercell today released a blog on the changes coming in the next update (probably Tuesday or Wednesday next week) and I expect sneak peeks to start tomorrow (18 March). This is an addition to all the war changes that have already been announced. However there are so many changes that in this article I’ll try to pull together the themes and what it means for your armies.

Mass witch nerf

We tend to use an awful lot of witches in this clan with devastating effect. We’re not the only ones so Supercell have nerfed this attack by introducing three changes:

  • Skeletons do not trigger traps, that’s painful !
  • Archer towers can one shot kill skeletons.
  • Wizards towers have much higher hit points, particularly at higher levels

Just think about these things in combination, witches vulnerable to bombs, skeletons more vulnerable and wizard towers harder to take down. We’ll see how effective this is but mass witch is definitely going to be a much less effective attack.

Valkyrie buff

No matter what changes Supercell make to Valkyries they are still the  most underused troop in the game so they are having another attempt at making them more effective; higher damage per second and faster attack spin up time is very positive, but lower hit points I’m not so sure. But I expect we’ll see more Valkyries in play, at least in the short term.

Other changes

There are so many I’m not going to list them all; but some are buffs to x-bows and infernos, a nerf to the Grand Warden, battle time reduced to three minutes, and many others.

Our Royale Clan

We managed to set-up a Royale clan before the global launch and a few of the people in our CoC clan joined. What I didn’t appreciate was how quickly word of mouth could spread when it’s a new game… and we are now full, 50 members ! Our next clan challenge is to make it on to the UK top 200 leader board and we’re only about 2000 trophies away.

Clan Wars Update is on the way

Galadon of Lost Phoenix just posted a video about changes that are coming to Clan Wars. In summary the match making system will be more heavily weighted towards defensive capability, but the biggest change will be a clan’s win streak. If your clan is winning all the time you are more likely to be matched against a clan which is doing the same, and vice versa; i you are on a losing streak you will more likely face a clan who has the same problem. This sounds very interesting !
